While the Information Security Office (ISO) works closely with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the various IT teams supporting UTD’s schools and departments to secure systems and the network, the best defense UT Dallas has is our community. A well-informed campus community is the last line of defense against internet criminals who look to steal valuable data, access or funds from UT Dallas.
Each year, UT Dallas employees are required to take cybersecurity training as part of either annual compliance or new hire orientation programs. This training is mandated by the state of Texas and covers a variety of topics to raise awareness of threats you may encounter while working for UT Dallas.
In addition to this, ISO sends out periodic emails to students, faculty and staff to bring additional awareness to threats impacting UT Dallas. Take the time to read these announcements when they arrive. The information they contain is designed to help prevent a security incident.
If you would like more specific training on information security topics, whether they be general security issues or tailored to a department on campus, please email infosecurity@utdallas.edu.
