CometSpace: Box Cloud Storage for UTD

CometSpace is the UT Dallas service that allows students, faculty and staff at The University of Texas at Dallas to use Box cloud storage to store and share files from anywhere in the world. While there are several options available in the cloud storage market that may fit your needs, Box is the only option approved by the Information Security Office (ISO) that allows you to share files outside UT Dallas and store an unlimited amount of data.

Advantages of CometSpace

• Box offers unlimited storage for every UT Dallas student, faculty and staff member. No more worrying about a quota and deciding which files you should keep or find another place to store. And with a 50 GB individual file upload limit, Box has room for all your largest files.
• Box supports almost any file type, and Office files (Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentations, etc.) can be edited by multiple collaborators simultaneously within the Box application, thanks to a seamless integration with Office Online.
• Box allows for sharing files with friends, classmates and colleagues. Files and folders can be shared with people outside of UT Dallas, as well. However, you are responsible for sharing files only with individuals who are authorized to access that material.
• Are files too large to share via email? Create Shared Links within Box and send them to anyone — even if they do not have a Box account. You can create a unique link to any file or folder in your Box account. Shared Links always point to the most up-to-date version of your file, meaning you do not need to resend or update the link once you make edits.
• While Box is primarily designed to use on your preferred web browser on a personal computer, Box apps afford you the perks of accessing storage from multiple devices. Access your content anywhere, from any device.
